How to perform sampling of kidney tissue

In this video you will learn how to perform sampling of kidney tissue. Use sterile technique when extracting the sample to avoid contamination between samples from different fish. This method is well suited for agents related to kidney challenges, e.g. Yersinia ruckeri, Aeromonas salmonicida.

Step by step

  1. Open the fish as instructed in the film
  2. Expose the kidney
  3. Use a new sterile scalpel blade for incision and sampling of the kidney tissue
  4. Trim kidney sample in a sterile scalpel blade package
  5. Put A&B sample in the RNA-later tube
  6. Lid on
  7. Make sure kidney tissue is covered in RNA-later
