Date: 11th June 2025 Norwegian Time: 12:00-13:00 (UTC + 2) In this upcoming webinar, we have assembled three distinguished experts from the aquaculture industry in Norway and the United Kingdom. They will explore various aspects of bloodwork, with a primary focus on farmed Atlantic salmon. Title: Evaluation of blood sampling from the caudal vasculature as a non-lethal method in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar). Presented by Harriet Romstad, Veterinarian, Aqua Kompetanse as Harriet is a dedicated veterinarian who has passionately worked in practical fish health management at hatcheries and grow-out facilities since 2002. In 2023, she began an industrial PhD focused on investigating the use of blood as a decision-support tool in aquaculture. Her research involved an experiment that utilises non-lethal blood sampling from the caudal vasculature to evaluate the welfare effects of this technique under varying temperatures and across different fish sizes. The findings from this trial will be shared in the webinar. Title: Practical haematology for salmonids. Presented by Sara Pflaum, Veterinarian and Clinical Pathologist at Ocean Ecology Sara has been working as a veterinarian in Scottish aquaculture since 2012. She completed a veterinary clinical pathology residency at the University of Glasgow in 2024 where she focused on clinical pathology of salmonids, especially manual and automated haematology methods. In this webinar, Sara will discuss haematology of salmonids and its practical applications in clinical cases. Title: Biokjemi -as a Prognostic Tool for Myopathies. Presented by: Martin Huun Røed, Senior Fish Health Advisor at PatoGen AS Martin has a Master of Science in Aqua medicine from the University of Bergen. Martin possesses extensive experience in utilizing biochemistry across various applications, both as a research and development instrument and in practical settings within the aquaculture industry. During Martins’ session, he will address these experiences and present findings from a trial conducted on Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) that were challenged with SAV2.
