How to perform sampling of gill tissue

In this video you will learn how to carry out sampling of gill tissue. Use sterile technique when extracting the sample to avoid contamination between samples from different fish. This method is well suited for agents related to gill challenges, e.g. Neoparamoeba perurans (syn. Paramoeba perurans) (AGD), SGPV.

Step by step

  1. Expose gill arch. We recommend sampling of 2nd gill arch on the left side
  2. Cut out gill arch
  3. Trim gill tissue in a sterile scalpel blade package
  4. Put A&B sample in the RNA-later tube
  5. Lid on
  6. Make sure gill tissue is covered in RNA-later
