How to perform lateral line swabs
In this video you will learn how to carry out skin sampling (along the lateral line) using swabs. This method is well suited for agents related to wound challenges, e.g. Moritella viscosa, Tenacibaculum spp.
Step by step
- Anesthetize the fish
- Swab the fish on the left side from the back of the gill lid/operculum towards the tail
- Rotate the swab slightly during the procedure
- Put the swab stick in ENAT tube and break off
- Put the cap on and close
